Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking an Electrical Controls/Design Engineer - Robotics to lead electrical design and programming for robotic cells and related equipment on the APS team in Orlando, FL.

You will develop PLC/HMI interfaces with FANUC/KUKA robots, design conveyors and handling systems, and collaborate with engineering teams to meet project objectives while adopting emerging technologies and standardized practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical/controls/programming for robotics and material handling.
• CAD skills required, AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
• Ability to implement industry safety standards (UL, RIA) in design for robot cells.
• Prior experience developing standardized PLC/HMI/Robot control interfaces is a plus.
• Strong MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop control concepts for robot cells and equipment.
• Create PLC/HMI programs to interface with FANUC and/or KUKA robots.
• Design controls for conveyors, loaders, pallets and other material handling equipment.
• Collaborate with Project Management and Mechanical Engineering teams to align electrical designs with project goals.
• Research and implement emerging technologies for world-class design and deployment.
• Attend conferences and training to maintain proficiency.
