Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Orlando, FL is seeking an Electrical Controls/Design Engineer to join the APS team. You will develop electrical designs and PLC/HMI programs for robotic cells and material handling equipment, interfacing with FANUC or KUKA robots.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field, 3+ years in robotics controls, CAD with AutoCAD Electrical, and strong communication skills. Travel up to80-85% may be required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical/controls/programming for robotics and material handling.
• CAD skill required (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).
• Ability to implement industry safety standards into electrical and programming design.

Responsibilities

• Develop PLC and HMI control programs interfacing with FANUC and/or KUKA robot control programs.
• Design controls and programming for conveyors, collators, disposers and pallet handling.
• Interface with Project Management and Mechanical Engineering to align electrical designs with project goals.
• Research and implement emerging technologies for world-class equipment design and redeployment.
• Attend trainings to maintain proficiency.
