Caterpillar is seeking an experienced engineer for the Electric Power Division to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for complex power systems across retrofit and new projects, collaborating with dealers and factories.

The role requires PLC/HMI expertise, power systems knowledge, and willingness to travel up to 50% from a US base. Relocation isn't offered; a valid driver's license is needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.
• Experience with automation and controls in power systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Customer focus and ability to tailor solutions to client needs.

Responsabilités

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance of assigned projects.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses in a timely manner.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance, troubleshooting, and system operation as needed.
