Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for a remote role based in the United States, with substantial travel.

You will design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems, delivering automation solutions from concept through commissioning. The position requires hands-on PLC and HMI experience, ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints, and collaboration with CAD teams to produce wiring diagrams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and commission generator control switchgear systems.
• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and develop PLC/HMI applications.
• Collaborate with CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
