Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer in the United States (Remote) to support the Electric Power Division. You will design, implement, and commission automation solutions for generator control switchgear systems, collaborating with dealers, factories, and field teams.

The role emphasizes retrofit projects, legacy-to-new platform migrations, and hands-on training for technicians while traveling up to 50% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of related experience with PLC-based systems and automation
• Experience reading electrical schematics and blueprints
• Ability to travel up to 35-50% (remote US-based)

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams
• Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator control systems
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance
• Develop PLC and HMI applications using standard templates
• Provide field and customer technical support and train technicians
