Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to join its Electric Power Division in the United States. You will design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems and deliver automation solutions from concept through commissioning.

The role requires hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and power systems, plus the ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams across dealers and factories. A BSEE/BSEET or equivalent is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience with automation and controls; PLC-based systems, HMIs, and DCS.
• Cross-functional work with engineers, contractors, and end users.
• Reading electrical schematics and blueprints is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities; define scope and support proposals.
• Design, programming, testing, and commissioning of MV/LV control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide technical risk assessment and field support.
• Support AES Sales and Product Support Center teams; document projects.
• Train technicians and customers on maintenance and operation.
