Job summary

HPE Automation, based in Florida, seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and develop electrical control panels and systems for industrial automation projects. You will read schematics, create electrical and mechanical drawings, specify components, and build BOMs to meet customer requirements.

You will work on UL 508A panel construction, program VFDs and PLCs (Mitsubishi and Allen-Bradley), and verify system performance.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or 7 years of equivalent experience required
• Experience in industrial automation, electrical controls, manufacturing or related fields
• Knowledge of IEC Standards and working with Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley PLCs preferred
• Experience with VFDs, HMIs, servos, robots and other industrial instrumentation
• Strong ability to read, interpret and draw electrical prints
• Knowledge of UL 508A standards
• Deadline- and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Responsibilities

• Reading electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings for control systems
• Design electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings for control systems
• Interface with customer to discuss project scope and user requirements
• Spec in components and build BOMs to meet customer project requirements
• Estimate time for engineering, design, BOM development, and creating prints for quoting
• Create electrical prints for enclosures/automation systems in AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical
• Oversee construction, assembly, wiring and testing of UL 508A panels to print
• Program parameters for VFDs and write PLC programs for automation systems
• Upload parameters or programs into newly built systems
• Test and ensure reliable operation of equipment
• Research and document projects
• Track project timelines to complete tasks on schedule
