Job summary

Gryphon Oakwood, a North Carolina-based electrical contractor, is seeking a Director of Operations to lead its NC operations across multiple projects and operational teams. The role combines strategic oversight of P&L, forecasting, budgets, and margins with hands-on leadership of Project Executives, Project Managers, and other leaders to drive performance and growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience within electrical construction or a comparable specialty contracting environment.
• Previous leadership responsibility for a significant construction operation, regional portfolio, or business unit.
• Strong understanding of P&L management, forecasting, project financials, and construction cost controls.
• Experience managing and developing Project Executives, Project Managers, and wider operational teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of electrical construction delivery, including manpower planning, scheduling, procurement, risk, and project controls.
• Demonstrated success improving operational performance, protecting project margins, and building effective teams.
• Experience supporting the growth and expansion of an electrical construction business or regional operation.
• Background across commercial, industrial, and/or mission-critical electrical construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day construction operations across North Carolina, providing leadership across multiple projects and operational teams
• Take ownership of regional financial performance, including P&L, forecasting, budgets, margins, and cost management
• Manage and develop Project Executives, Project Managers, and other key operational leaders
• Maintain visibility across active projects, identifying potential issues around cost, schedule, labor, procurement, and project risk
• Establish effective operational practices that improve consistency, accountability, and project performance
• Ensure projects achieve expectations around safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction
• Work closely with senior leadership to establish regional objectives and execute long-term growth plans
• Maintain strong relationships with key clients, general contractors, and industry partners across the Carolinas
• Support the evaluation and pursuit of new opportunities that align with the company’s capabilities and growth strategy
• Build the operational infrastructure required for expansion, including workforce planning, leadership development, and succession
• Promote a safety-first culture across all projects and ensure teams operate in accordance with company and industry standards
