Job summary

Axon is seeking an Electrical Component Engineer I (onsite) in Scottsdale, AZ to own component strategy across the product lifecycle. You will influence design decisions, secure supplier relationships, and drive cost optimization while ensuring availability and quality for future products.

The role requires 5+ years in component engineering, cross-functional collaboration, and strong documentation discipline, with relocation to Scottsdale as a possibility.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience in component engineering or related roles
• Experience with NPI sourcing environment preferred
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Global Supply Chain, Operations and Contract Manufacturers
• Understanding of engineering documentation and document control (ECRs, ECOs, deviations)
• Arena PLM or equivalent and QMS experience
• Cadence/Altium/Siemens familiarity
• Experience with component databases (Silicon Expert, Z2Data, IHS Markit)
• MS Dynamics 365 ERP experience
• Jira, Quip, SharePoint experience
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Detail-oriented and able to work under pressure
• Willingness to relocate to Scottsdale, AZ
• Design experience with schematic capture and layout

Responsibilities

• Partner with design engineering early in NPI to influence component selection
• Develop supplier relationships to understand roadmaps and availability
• Collaborate with sourcing to develop component sources for new products
• Select strategic components for 5+ year lifecycles
• Develop and execute multi-dimensional commodity strategies for NPI
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities
• Identify supply risks and qualify additional sources
• Manage all active BOMs in the electronic component database
• Develop and maintain the EOL maintenance process from PCNs
• Provide reports on obsolescence and environmental solutions
• Input to new designs to improve reliability and longevity
• Support team on cost, availability, and technical advantages of component choices
• Ensure data integrity in databases and issue internal standards
• Liaise with external agencies on reliability
