Job summary

Becton, Dickinson and Company in Irvine, CA is seeking a BOM and component lifecycle specialist to manage obsolescence, PCNs, and supplier data for the electronics portfolio.

You will collaborate with internal teams, contract manufacturers, and suppliers to assess PCN impacts, propose alternates, and support ECOs and qualification testing. Strong data analysis and ECAD/PLM proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical datasheets.
• Familiarity with BOM navigation, ECAD (Altium), CAD Viewer, PLM systems (Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile), ERP (JDE, SAP) and Requirements Management (PTC Integrity, Polarion).
• Knowledge of obsolescence management tools (e.g. Silicon Expert, IHS Markit, Octopart).
• Proficient in data analysis tools such as Power BI or Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).

Responsibilities

• Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) for component lifecycle status including obsolescence, at risk, or end-of-life parts, PCN, and compliance.
• Interface with internal teams, contract manufacturers, and distributors for obsolescence data to support BOM Health Analysis.
• Drive awareness through collaboration and meetings with sustaining and NPD teams on BOM health.
• Assess PCN intake and drive actions to stakeholders.
• Perform technical component evaluation and propose alternate components and qualification strategies.
• Support sustaining R&D engineers with qualification efforts and documentation.
• Explore component cost down opportunities with category managers and sustaining R&D.
• Support ECOs and related documentation releases to contract manufacturers.
