Job summary

Sypris Electronics, LLC is seeking a Component Engineer to drive component specification, selection and documentation for production teams in Tampa. This role collaborates with Engineering, Supply Chain and Program Management to ensure availability and compliance of parts across programs.

The ideal candidate will manage obsolescence, evaluate alternate parts, and support risk mitigation, while maintaining strong records and clear communications with vendors and internal customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent education/experience.
• Minimum 3 years of electronics manufacturing experience with circuit card assemblies and box builds.
• Knowledge of electrical parts, semiconductors, and their processes.
• Ability to interpret customer drawings and applications.
• IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001 certification or ability to obtain.
• Knowledge of counterfeit mitigation practices.
• Proactive problem solver with strong communication skills.
• Ability to obtain government security clearance if needed.

Responsibilities

• Identify and select components per requirements; verify long lead delivery concerns and End of Life projections to support Production plans; coordinate with Engineering, Supply Chain and Program Management.
• Identify available alternate parts and present information to customer for approval.
• Assist Production when parts arrive not as expected; determine if parts can be used or if a risk mitigation plan is necessary.
• Provide proactive obsolescence management by monitoring parts availability and communicating concerns and proposed solutions to enable proper planning.
