Job summary

City of Houston - Houston Permitting Center is hiring an Electrical Inspector to enforce electrical codes, investigate unpermitted work and issue citations as needed. You will review plans, interact with contractors and the public, and prepare reports to ensure compliance.

The role requires hands-on inspections, coordination with the team, and adherence to safety and city policies. On-site work at 1002 Washington Avenue with a Tier II designation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent training.
• Two years journey-level experience in inspection.
• May require a valid Texas driver's license and driving policy compliance.
• Preferred: Electrical ICBO/IAEI Inspector's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Enforce electrical codes and ordinances for conformity with plans.
• Issue corrections and citations; investigate unpermitted work.
• Meet with public, contractors, and professionals to resolve issues.
• Maintain records, reports and documentation.
