Job summary

Louisville Metro Government is seeking an Electrical Inspector to enforce electrical codes in residential and commercial structures year-round. The role involves inspecting installations, issuing warnings, and preparing reports to support compliance with ordinances.

The position requires coordination with the public, electricians, engineers, and business officials, working under general supervision and occasionally testifying in court or public hearings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Kentucky Master Electrician License required or 8+ years in electrical trade or 3+ years as electrical engineer.
• Must wear OSHA safety gear and possess valid driver's license.
• Must be on-call 24 hours.

Responsibilities

• Submit inspection reports and recommend actions.
• Collect evidence of violations.
• Inspect electrical installations to enforce codes.
• Discuss inspections with public and professionals.
• Prepare findings and testify in court when needed.
