Job summary

Actalent seeks an Electrical Design Engineer / CAD Operator in Spartanburg, SC. Primary work focuses on AutoCAD to modify electrical designs and support production with schematic updates, with growth toward creating schematics from scratch and exposure to PLC programming and AutoCAD Electrical.

You will collaborate with office and shop teams to ensure panels are designed, built, and tested to meet production schedules, with some travel and remote support as needed.

Qualifications

• 25 years of experience in electrical design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD software for electrical design and drafting.
• Ability to read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics.
• Willingness to assist in building and testing electrical panels in a shop environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in updating and maintaining design documentation.
• Effective communication with office and shop teams.
• Ability to learn and adapt to company-specific electrical design standards and processes.

Responsibilities

• Modify existing electrical designs using AutoCAD to fit standards and requirements.
• Update and adjust electrical schematics to support projects and production schedules.
• Develop electrical schematics from scratch as processes allow.
• Assist with building and testing electrical panels in the shop, initially ~10% of the role.
• Collaborate with shop personnel to ensure panels are built and wired per updated schematics.
• Troubleshoot electrical panels during testing and adjust designs in AutoCAD.
• Participate in PLC programming and AutoCAD Electrical training.
• Communicate design changes to both office and shop teams and coordinate production needs.
• Provide remote support for field issues and occasional on-site travel.
