Job summary

Giga Energy seeks a seasoned BIM Designer to own the federated electrical model, coordinating between electrical, structural, and civil teams from concept through fabrication.

You will work in our in-office culture with a preference for candidates in major hubs, including Houston. The role emphasizes rapid decision-making and a unified, single-source model for design through field support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years BIM modeling experience with multi-discipline coordination.
• Expert-level Revit skills, including family creation and template configuration.
• Proven Navisworks clash detection and issue resolution.
• Direct experience with electrical power infrastructure — substations, switchgear, transformers, or high‑capacity power distribution.
• Working fluency in NEC / NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, IEEE / ANSI C57, UL 891, and NEMA enclosure standards.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, schematics, and structural steel drawings.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain federated Revit models for electrical scope — substations, switchgear, cable tray, busway, conduit, and raceway.
• Model to project stage development, from concept (LOD 200/300) to fabrication-ready (LOD 400).
• Reconcile MCAD geometry into usable Revit families and IFC content.
• Run Navisworks clash tests and track issues to closure with evidence.
• Publish clash and coordination reports and participate in coordination meetings.
• Build and enforce BIM standards — templates, worksets, parameters, naming conventions, view templates.
• Maintain parametric family library for recurring equipment.
• Generate coordination drawings, general arrangements, and model-derived takeoffs.
• Maintain model health — purging, auditing, and file size discipline.
