Job Opening: Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Field Technician

Sign-on Bonus: Up to $5,000 for experienced candidates, with bonuses paid in two installments at 90 and 180 days of employment.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Field Technician in Richmond, Virginia. The technician will service, diagnose, and repair EPG rental equipment, including power, temperature control, air, pumps, and used equipment at Carter or customer facilities.

Responsibilities include carrying out preventative maintenance, applying advanced mechanical and electrical troubleshooting techniques, and determining proper repair procedures. Candidates should have experience with UPS systems, parallels, diagnosing engine failures, and mechanical repairs to electrical generator systems. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Minimum Requirements:

1. At least three years of relevant Electrical Power Generation (EPG)/electronics field experience for the $5,000 sign-on bonus eligibility.
2. Less than three years of experience qualifies for a $2,000 bonus.
3. Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver objects up to 70 pounds.
4. Ability to work outside in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks like reaching, standing, kneeling, and climbing.
5. Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
6. Availability for after-hours emergency service and travel, including out-of-town and out-of-country assignments.
7. Experience with electronic software applications.
8. Valid driving record with ability to obtain CDL and/or DOT certification.
