Electric Power Generation (EPG) Technician

We are currently offering up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus for experienced EPG Field Technician new hires.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Technician in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The position involves performing service and installation on electric power generation systems and components, including troubleshooting, repairs, and start-up of generators, transfer switches, UPS, and switchgear systems. Flexibility for emergency calls outside normal hours and in-depth product knowledge are essential.

Minimum qualifications:

• At least three years of relevant Electrical Power Generation (EPG)/electronics field experience to qualify for the $10,000 sign-on bonus.
• Less than three years of experience qualifies for a $2,000 bonus, paid in two installments at 90 and 180 days.
• High school diploma or GED.

Preferred qualifications include a technical degree or military equipment experience.

Responsibilities:

• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on engine and electrical systems.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver objects up to 70 pounds, and perform physical activities such as reaching, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions is required.
