Job Opportunity: Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Field Technician

Sign-on Bonus: Up to $5,000 for experienced candidates, with bonuses paid in two installments at 90 and 180 days of employment.

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring a qualified EPG Rental Field Technician in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves servicing, diagnosing, and repairing EPG rental equipment related to power, temperature control, air, pumps, and used equipment at both Carter and customer facilities.

Responsibilities include:

1. Performing preventative maintenance and product improvement plans on equipment.
2. Applying advanced mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting techniques.
3. Diagnosing and repairing engine failures and electrical generator systems.
4. Supporting all PSD rental equipment independently in the field.
5. Providing excellent customer service and promoting a positive customer experience.
6. Supporting after-hours emergency service requests, including travel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least three years of relevant Electrical Power Generation (EPG)/electronics field experience for the maximum sign-on bonus.
• Understanding of Gensets, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps.
• Ability to perform product improvement plans on various equipment.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Availability for 24/7 emergency service, additional hours, and travel, including out-of-town and international travel.
• Experience with electronic software applications.
• Clean driving record with the ability to obtain CDL and/or DOT certification.
• Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
