Job summary

Chicago Meat Authority, Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking a Material Handler – Electric Pallet Jack for our meat processing facility. You will move pallets, monitor lines, and ensure production runs smoothly in a cold environment.

The role requires at least one year of EPJ experience, ability to lift up to 80 pounds, and willingness to work overtime, including Saturdays. We operate under GMPs and CMA policies, and offer the Meat Purchase Program as a benefit.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate EPJ to move pallets between locations such as freezer, cooler, dry storage, production, and docks.
• Ensure boxes and combos return to production lines for filling.
• Monitor production lines to prevent meat shortages.
• Read the fresh meat and schedule report to identify correct product (FIFO).
• Use RF scanner for in/out location scans.
• Complete verification paperwork for labels and reconcile records.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist inventory as scheduled.
• Identify broken pallets/boxes and report to supervisor.
• Adhere to safe work practices and GMPs.

Job description

Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is proud to have celebrated 36 years in the food industry. Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward thinking processor of value added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on selling the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and Multi-unit regional and national chains up to and including big box stores. In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors including but not limited to grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.

CMA is seeking Material Handler – Electric Pallet Jack (EPJ) for our meat processing facility. Individuals must be willing to work in a cold environment.

What You Get To Do

• Use EPJ to move pallets to various locations. Locations include freezer room, cooler room, dry storage room, production room and docks.
• Make sure that all partial boxes and combos are brought back to the production line to finish filling.
• Make sure the production lines do not run out of meat.
• Read the fresh meat and schedule report to identify correct product (FIFO).
• Use RF scanner to scan product (in and out locations).
• Fill out verification documents for labels.
• Reconcile written paperwork to ensure accuracy and balance.
• Maintain area organized and clear of path ways.
• Complete inventory as scheduled.
• Re-palletize as needed.
• Identify broken pallets/boxes and report to supervisor.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.

What We Want From You

• Required one year of recent EPJ experience.
• Required to work overtime (including some Saturdays).
• Required to wear all personal protective equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and push up to 80 pounds depending on specific function being performed.
• Ability to crouch and bend.
• Ability to work with cold materials in a cold, humid environment.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Follow CMA policies and procedures.
• Follow all safety regulations and support others in working safely.
• Perform all duties as required by supervisor.

Compensation:

Starting Rate : $19.01 per hour
