Job summary

HECO in Lexington, KY is seeking an Electric Motor Mechanic to join our skilled team. You will work on AC/DC motors up to 15,000 HP and 13,800V, performing dismantling, inspection, testing, and reassembly to meet client specifications.

You'll use precision tools, document results, and collaborate with the Mechanic Team Leader to ensure timely, high-quality repairs. PTO and 401(k) with employer match are offered.

Position Summary

HECO is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Electric Motor Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you'll work on a wide range of AC and DC electric motors up to 15,000 HP and 13,800V, supporting our mission to keep industrial operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Dismantle, inspect, and reassemble AC and DC electric motors (up to 15,000 HP / 13,800V).
• Conduct detailed testing using tools such as:
  • Meggers
  • Low OHM Meters
  • Micrometers
  • Hi-Potential (HiPot) Testers
  • Surge Comparison Testers
  • Bar-to-Bar Testers
  • AC/DC Test Panels
• Accurately document findings and measurements using tablet-based job tracking systems.
• Ensure all repairs meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Mechanic Team Leader and other departments to ensure timely, high-quality results.

Requirements

• Previous experience with electric motor repair and testing (AC and DC systems preferred).
• Familiarity with precision measurement and electrical testing tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow documented processes and safety procedures.
