Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – Electric Motor for the Mossville, Illinois site to support the IDES division.

You will design, develop and implement manufacturing processes and systems for electric motor assembly, interfacing with engineering, operations, logistics, and safety teams. Responsibilities include optimizing shop floor processes, standard work, BOM/MBOM, PFMEA, control plans, and driving continuous improvements in safety, quality, velocity and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technology degree is desired. In lieu of a degree, 2+ years in an electrical motor manufacturing support role.

Responsibilities

• Address daily process issues, implement innovative solutions, and assess the effectiveness of modifications while clearly communicating improvements.
• Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to address Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost opportunities identified through projects.
• Develop, implement, and maintain shop floor processes managing standard work, routings/work instructions, BOM/MBOM, ergonomic requirements, tooling, lifting devices, SFMEA, PFMEA, control plans, flow diagrams.
• Assess and recommend systems, procedures, training, and equipment based on input from shop floor users, operations, safety, design engineering.
• Manage expense and capital requirements as it relates to assembly areas, NPI, product capacity increases, equipment replacement and day to day continuous process improvement requirements.
• Support continuous improvement
• Provides technical expertise and guidance to the value stream for electric motor manufacturing processes.
