Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Illinois to join the Power Electronics/Drive team on-site. You will release and validate mechanical designs, create concepts, and coordinate with suppliers for part fabrication and assembly.

The role requires 5+ years in mechanical design, a BS in ME (MS with 3+ yrs acceptable), and familiarity with Creo and thermal/vibration testing. On-site with PPE as needed on production floors.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in mechanical design engineering.
• BS in Mechanical Engineering required; MS preferred with 3+ years experience.
• Associates degree accepted with 9 years experience.
• Internships count toward experience; title: Mechanical Design Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Design release and checking of parts and assemblies.
• Concept mechanical designs and validation of parts.
• Fit-up, assembly, and manufacturing liaison with suppliers.
• Conduct vibration and thermal testing as needed.
• Collaborate with mechanical and power electronic engineers on-site and remote.
