About the Role

The Meter Reader reports to the Meter Services Supervisor. This role involves reading and inspecting gas, electric, and water meters, requiring extensive outdoor walking, excellent time management, and flexibility.

• Pay: $20/hr, with potential productivity incentives for meters installed over a threshold.

Responsibilities

• Read meters daily or as scheduled, typically on customer premises for billing.
• Complete assigned duties within required timeframes, assign sequence numbers, and reorganize routes as needed.
• Inspect meters and report damages or malfunctions.
• Evaluate unsafe conditions and clean meter boxes.
• Use electronic reading devices, hand tools, printed materials, and assist in training new meter readers.
• Walk and stand for long periods, sometimes up to 20 miles daily, in various weather conditions.
• Communicate with customers, providing general information and referring complaints appropriately.

About You

Must Haves:

• Education: None required; must be 18+ years old.
• Experience: None necessary; training provided. Valid driver’s license required.

Nice to Have:

• High School diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year outdoor meter reading experience or similar outdoor work.

Additional Information
