About The Team

We seek motivated individuals who enjoy working independently and outdoors to join our team.

About the Role

The Meter Reader reports to the Meter Services Supervisor and plays a key role in reading and inspecting gas, electric, and water meters. The role requires extensive walking outdoors, excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility.

  • Pay: $20/hr, with eligibility for a productivity incentive.

What You'll Do

  • Read meters on a daily or scheduled basis, typically on customer premises.
  • Carry out assigned duties within specified time frames, assign sequence numbers, and reorganize routes as needed.
  • Inspect meters and report damages or malfunctions.
  • Evaluate unsafe conditions and clean meter boxes.
  • Use electric, gas, water meter reading devices, hand tools, and printed materials.
  • Assist in training new meter readers.
  • Read meters in various environmental conditions, often walking long distances in weather conditions.
  • Communicate with customers and report complaints appropriately.
  • Provide general meter service information to customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

About You

Must Haves:

  • Education: None required; must be 18+.
  • Experience: None necessary; training provided. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Nice to Have:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year outdoor meter reading experience or similar outdoor work.

  • Ability to multitask and work independently or in a team.
  • Flexibility in routines and route scheduling.
  • Time management skills for timely completion of readings.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult customer interactions professionally.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to walk long distances and adapt to weather conditions.

This role may not be suitable if you dislike outdoor work, walking long distances, or lack flexibility and time management skills.
