About the Role

The Meter Reader reports to the Meter Services Supervisor. Responsibilities include reading and inspecting gas, electric, and water meters, often outdoors, requiring excellent time management and flexibility.

• Pay: $20/hr, with potential productivity incentives for meters installed beyond a set threshold.

Key Responsibilities

• Read meters on scheduled and special basis, on customer premises
• Manage meter reading routes, assign sequence numbers, and report damages or malfunctions
• Inspect meters and report unsafe conditions
• Use various tools and devices for meter reading and inspection
• Assist in training new meter readers
• Walk and stand extensively, sometimes up to 20 miles daily, in various weather conditions
• Communicate with customers and handle complaints professionally
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older; no experience necessary as training is provided
• Valid driver’s license required
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Experience outdoors or in meter reading is a plus
• Strong multi-tasking, communication, attention to detail, and time management skills

• Drug and alcohol testing is mandatory
