Job summary

Blue Grass Energy is seeking a skilled Line Technician to perform construction, operations, and maintenance on energized and de-energized lines. You will execute switching, fusing, and installation tasks, while adhering to safety standards and company procedures.

The role requires CDL, pole-top and bucket rescue certifications, and at least five years of line experience or completion of the technician training program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years' line experience or completion of Line Technician training program.
• Must maintain CDL license and pole-top/bucket rescue certifications.
• Ability to read manuals, follow safety procedures and perform math calculations.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs all phases of construction, operations and maintenance of energized or de-energized lines.
• Performs conversion, switching and fusing.
• Installs transformers, banks, breakers, regulators and auto boosters with minimal supervision.
• Observes safety measures; basic first aid including artificial respiration and pole top resuscitation.
• Reports hazardous conditions to supervisor and assists in corrections.
• Cuts rights of way and trims trees as required.
• Assists in digging holes, setting anchors, alignment and framing of poles.
• Attends safety meetings and participates as needed.
• Performs supervisory duties in absence of Crew Chief.
• Receives on-call service requests and completes outage reports.
• Responds during major events as needed.
• Maintains tools and equipment; operates line devices.
• Relays customer complaints to the proper authority.
• Trains and directs occasional personnel.
• Drives and maintains vehicle; holds CDL.
• Follows EKP line switching procedures and dispatcher directions.
• Keeps informed of Blue Grass Energy feeds and SCADA diagrams.
• Performs substation power restoration with proper protocol.
• Follows BGEnergy Safety Manual and policies.
