The Town of Apex Electric Line Technician Career Development Program is part of the training employees receive while working.
Work is performed within the Town of Apex and there is no traveling involved unless it's for special training or on a volunteer basis in weather relatedemergencies. On call and special project work is available after normal hours.

The following are the salary ranges for the various levels of Electric Line Technicians:
Electric Line Technician Apprentice Salary Range: $50,398.40 - $61,734.40 annually
Electric Line Technician I Salary Range:$59,862.40-$73,340.80 annually
Electric Line Technician II Salary Range: $$65,270.40- $79,934.40 annually
Electric Line Technician lll Salary Range: $71,136.- $87,131.20 annually
Electric Line Journeyman Salary Range: $77,521.60- $94,993.60 annually
Hiring managers will consider appointing the right candidate to an Apprentice position if incumbent does not meet minimum requirements, but desires to obtain promotions through participation in a Lineman Career Development Program.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Town of Apex Electric Line Technicians perform basic level technical work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of underground and overhead lines in the Town's electrical distribution system. Employees are expected to possess a basic working knowledge of standardized techniques and practices utilized in power line construction, maintenance, and repair. Judgment is utilized in following the direction of the lead worker, determining the most appropriate work methods, and observing safety standards. Work requires frequent on-call and callback responsibilities. The employee is subject to hazards associated with electric power in both inside and outside environments, and working inextreme heat and freezing weather. Exposure to various hazards such as working at heights, loud noises, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, confined spaces, poor ventilation, and oils. Work is performed under the supervision of a lead worker and the overall supervision of the assigned supervisor. Performance is reviewed in progress and judged upon completion for conformance to accepted work practice standards.

WITH THE ABILITY TO...
· Basic working knowledge of the standard techniques and practices used in power lineconstruction and maintenance work.
· Basic working knowledge of the use and care of all tools, equipment, and supplies used inpower distribution work.
· Basic working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in power line work.
· Ability to climb poles safely and work efficiently.
· Ability to work on high voltage lines under supervision and to take precautionary measuresto avoid accidents.
· Ability to use line worker's tools and equipment in a safe manner.
MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid driver's license, graduation from High School or GED and desire to obtain promotions through participationin the Town of Apex Lineman Career Development program.
The preferred candidate would possess a High School diploma or GED supplemented bysuccessful completion of a lineman technical career training program, and experiencerelated to electrical distribution system work, or an equivalent combination of education andexperience with possession of a valid North Carolina class A commercial driver's license.
