Job summary

The City of Hamilton is seeking an apprentice lineman to join the Electric Distribution Division. This role provides hands-on training in line construction and maintenance, pole work, and equipment operation, with supervision during the apprenticeship.

You will progress toward journey level while learning safety policies and standard procedures. Applicants must have a High School Diploma or GED and obtain a CDL A license within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid CDL A Driver's License within six months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in construction and maintenance of distribution lines; digs holes for poles and guy anchors; sets and frames poles.
• Strings and splices wire; installs service and meters; climbs poles.
• Operates line and bucket trucks used in construction and maintenance of lines.
• Attends recognized training courses for the apprentice program and progresses toward journey level.
• Responds to mandatory calls when a qualified crew is necessary.
