Job summary

DGR Engineering in Rock Rapids, Iowa is seeking a detail-oriented Electric Distribution Designer to support planning and design of electrical power distribution systems. You will develop underground and overhead distribution designs, prepare construction documents, and support project teams across the Midwest.

Candidates with experience in underground or overhead distribution are encouraged; experience is valued but not required.

Qualifications

Associate degree or technical training in a related field (or equivalent experience).
Ability to interpret plans and engineering drawings.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Willingness to travel within the region to clients and jobsites.
Familiarity with engineering and design software as needed (AutoCAD, GIS).

Responsibilities

Design overhead and underground electric distribution systems (primary and secondary).
Prepare construction drawings, staking sheets, and plan sets.
Perform load analysis, voltage drop, and equipment sizing calculations.
Conduct field visits and collect data for design development.
Develop material lists, cost estimates, and documentation.
Coordinate with engineers, clients, and construction personnel.
Assist with permitting, easements, and right-of-way coordination.
Provide technical support during construction.
