Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering a paid internship for electrical engineering students to support the Electric Distribution Area Engineering Organization in Minneapolis, MN, or Fargo, ND. Interns assist in outage investigations, contribute to reports, and learn how electricity is delivered while working in a hybrid setting.

The role starts May 24, 2027, with potential extension based on performance and business needs. Compensation includes benefits like pension, 401(k), PTO, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher in ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program.
• Enrolled in ABET accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Assist in outage investigations.
• Contribute to technical reports.
• Learn how electricity is delivered.
• Assist with protection and coordination studies.
