Job description

Role Mission: IDEA Electives teachers instruct students in a variety of subjects. Each IDEA campus offers different electives, which may include Fine Arts, Health, and Technology Applications. All IDEA Elective teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while embodying IDEA's values daily. They set ambitious goals for student achievement, create a powerful learning environment, plan and deliver purposeful, rigorous instruction, assess for mastery, track student progress, analyze data to intervene and adjust instruction, and seek excellence as educators and team members.

What We Offer

Compensation:

  • The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $56,500. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. Opportunities for additional incentives include our Teacher Career Pathway, with potential to earn up to $10,000 extra. More details are available on our compensation and benefits page.
  • Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, including medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and more. Special benefits include:

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks of paid leave for birth or adoption, based on tenure and caregiver status.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition paid for qualifying degrees, up to $5,250 annually.
  • Employee-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health: 5 face-to-face counseling sessions annually, unlimited telephonic counseling, and other services at no cost.

Additional benefits include flexible spending accounts, vacation time, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan. IDEA may also offer a relocation allowance if applicable.

What You Bring -- Competencies

Qualifications:

  • High proficiency in content area, evidenced by certification, field of study, or work experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
  • State certification is preferred but not required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various situations in the school environment.

What You’ll Do -- Accountabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Implement state standards, curricula, and assessments to meet academic expectations.
  • Master and deliver relevant content and grade-level curriculum.
  • Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance.
  • Use assessments to monitor progress, adjust lessons, and update gradebooks weekly.
  • Communicate student progress weekly with students and families.
  • Utilize technology effectively to enhance achievement and manage tasks.
  • Implement a behavior management system aligned with campus initiatives.
  • Foster a positive school culture and develop students’ character and community sense.
  • Build trusting relationships with students and families.
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed.
  • Participate in meetings, duties, and school functions.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Spend at least 40 hours weekly at school.

Additional duties may include after-school or Saturday tutoring based on student needs.
