Description

Role Mission: IDEA Science teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while also embodying IDEA’s values daily. IDEA Science teachers set ambitious goals for student achievement and diligently track student data to inform dynamic and effective daily lesson plans. IDEA Science teachers seek feedback and continue to develop their teaching practice to better serve IDEA students. We strive to accomplish this goal in two ways: by giving students the chance to experience rigorous and challenging material in high school and by providing opportunities to gain college credit through dual-enrollment, AP, or IB courses.

What We Offer

• The starting teacher salary for 0 years of experience is $56,500. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and campus leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. We also offer incentives through our Teacher Career Pathway, with potential to earn up to $10,000 in additional compensation. For more details, visit our compensation and benefits page.
• Additional hourly compensation is provided for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.

Qualifications

• High level of content-area proficiency with certification, field of study, or work experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred.
• State certification preferred but not required.

• Relevant coursework in Science content.
• Ability to pass IDEA’s content assessment.
• Knowledge of curricula and instructional practices.
• Ability to instruct and manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptability to school environment situations.

Responsibilities

• Implement state standards, curricula, and assessments.
• Master and deliver content and grade-level curriculum.
• Submit weekly lesson plans for feedback.
• Use assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction.
• Communicate student progress weekly with families.
• Utilize technology effectively in teaching.
• Implement behavior management systems.
• Foster a positive school culture.
• Build trust and relationships with students and families.
• Host tutoring sessions as needed.
• Participate in meetings and school activities.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
• Work a minimum of 40+ hours weekly at school.
