Role Mission

IDEA Electives teachers instruct students in a variety of subjects. Each IDEA campus offers different electives, which may include Fine Arts, Health, and Technology Applications. All IDEA Elective teachers are responsible for ensuring that every IDEA student masters the academic and social skills necessary to succeed in college, while embodying IDEA’s values daily. They set ambitious goals for student achievement, create a powerful learning environment, plan and deliver purposeful, rigorous instruction, assess for mastery, track progress, analyze data for intervention, and seek excellence as educators and team members.

What We Offer
Compensation
  • Starting salary for 0 years of experience is $56,500. This role is eligible for stipends based on certifications, credentials, and leadership, ranging from $500-$4,000. There are additional earning opportunities through our Teacher Career Pathway, with potential to earn up to $10,000 extra. Visit our compensation and benefits page for details.
  • Additional hourly compensation for after-school tutoring or Saturday school as assigned.
Other Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits plan, covering the majority of medical premiums and subsidizing costs for dependents. Benefits include:

  • Paid Family Leave: Up to 8 weeks of paid leave for birth or adoption, based on tenure and caregiver status.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to 50% of tuition for qualifying degree programs, up to $5,250 annually, subject to discretion and budget.
  • Employer-Paid Mental/Behavioral Health: 5 face-to-face counseling sessions annually, unlimited telephonic counseling, and other services at no cost.

Qualifications
  • High proficiency in content area with certification, study, or experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience in a K-12 classroom preferred
  • State certification preferred but not required

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

What You’ll Do — Accountabilities
Responsibilities
  • Implement state standards, curricula, and assessments to meet academic expectations
  • Master and deliver relevant content; plan lessons and submit weekly plans for feedback
  • Use assessments to monitor progress, adjust instruction, and update gradebooks weekly
  • Communicate progress to students and families weekly
  • Utilize technology effectively for communication and instruction
  • Implement behavior management systems aligned with campus initiatives
  • Develop a positive school culture and foster community
  • Build trusting relationships with students and families
  • Host tutoring sessions as needed
  • Participate in meetings, duties, and school functions
  • Engage in ongoing professional development
  • Work at least 40+ hours weekly at school
  • Additional duties may include after-school or Saturday tutoring based on needs
