Job summary

Fayette County Administration is seeking an Election Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day election operations, coordinating staff, equipment, and processes to ensure timely, accurate results in line with established procedures under the Elections Director.

The role includes staffing, training, equipment coordination, and compliance with ADA requirements, with a full-time benefits package.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship or right to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; specialized field training is a plus.
  • 1–3 years' experience in elections or related environment.
  • Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience supervising staff or coordinating teams.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day election operations and staff.
  • Oversee election equipment and the EMS system, including deployment and maintenance.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct poll worker training and update materials.
  • Serve as primary contact for poll worker questions and operational support.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners for equipment IT setup at voting locations.
  • Manage Advance Voting in-person staff, providing training and guidance.
  • Oversee Logic and Accuracy (L&A) testing.
  • Recruit, process, and onboard seasonal election workers.
  • Oversee Election Night check-in procedures for poll officials and payroll processing.
  • Oversee preparation and execution of the Risk-Limiting Audit.
  • Provide operational support to other staff as needed.
  • Ensure polling locations meet ADA accessibility requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining current polling place contracts and documentation.

Job description

This is a full-time position with benefits. This position oversees day-to-day election operations, coordinating staff, equipment, and processes to ensure activities are completed accurately and on schedule in accordance with established procedures and under the direction of the Elections Director.


Major duties include but are not limited to:


  1. Assists with the identification, evaluation, and allocation of polling locations during reapportionment.

  2. Oversees election equipment and the EMS system, including assignment, inventory control, deployment, and maintenance.

  3. Plans, schedules, and conducts training for poll workers; prepares and updates training materials.

  4. Serves as the primary point of contact for poll worker questions, issues, and operational support.

  5. Coordinates with internal departments and external partners for equipment delivery and IT set-up at voting locations.

  6. Manages Advance Voting in-person staff, providing training, guidance, and problem resolution as needed.

  7. Supervises the Logic and Accuracy (L&A) testing process.

  8. Recruits, processes, and onboards seasonal election workers.

  9. Oversees Election Night check-in procedures for poll officials.

  10. Processes payroll for Election Day poll officials.

  11. Oversees preparation and execution of the Risk-Limiting Audit.

  12. Provides operational support to other staff as needed.

  13. Ensures polling locations meet ADA accessibility requirements.

  14. Assists in maintaining current polling place contracts and documentation.

  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must not hold a current Public Office position.

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.

  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.

  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

  • Experience in elections, voter registration, or a related reporting environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a strong emphasis on Excel.

  • Experience supervising staff or coordinating teams.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Three (3) or more years of experience in election administration at the county or municipal level.

  • Experience conducting Logic & Accuracy testing, managing Advance Voting, provisional ballot procedures, poll worker training, or election equipment deployment.

  • Familiarity with Georgia election laws, rules, systems, and administrative procedures.

  • Experience coordinating with IT and logistics personnel for election operations.

  • Experience recruiting, onboarding, or managing seasonal or temporary staff.

  • Knowledge of ADA requirements applicable to polling locations.
