Clayton County, Georgia is seeking an Absentee Vote Assistant Manager (Seasonal) to supervise polling staff at early/advance voting locations and help ensure accurate voter records and secure ballot handling.
Responsibilities include assisting the poll manager, reconciling machine counts with absentee ballot records, and performing data entry, mail distribution, and customer service tasks as needed.
ABSENTEE VOTE ASSISTANT MGR
The purpose of this classification is to maintain a complete and accurate record of all eligible voters in the County with each person voting in the correct precinct and for their correct representative, and to hold absentee balloting prior to all elections.
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Incumbent in this class performs operational duties associated with providing administrative and supervisory support to the poll manager of an Early/Advance polling facility for in-person voting.
The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting the pool managers in the supervision of assigned staff and ensuring the poll manager in performing daily validation and reconciliation of the number of voters casting in-person ballot as reflected on voting machines and computer terminals with physical in-person absentee ballot applications on-hand.
Develops work schedule and duty assignments for staff. Specific duties include accompanying the and assisting the poll manager in the opening and closing of the poll and monitoring the activities of other poll officials to ensure compliance with poll procedures and their fulfillment of other assigned elections related duties.
Other duties include data entry, filing, document scanning, processing absentee ballots and maintaining correspondence.
Assists with retrieving and distributing the mail. Provides customer service in person and via telephone. Requires knowledge of poll procedures, terminal and election equipment security.
Must know how to access voter registration databases and retrieve several reports to aide in reconciliation of daily voter participation. Must possess a knowledge of absentee ballots administrative and office theories and principles; working knowledge of personal computers, telephone etiquette and customer service procedures.
Requires applied skills in the area of customer relations, data entry, use of general office equipment, communication and interpersonal skills.
Performs other related duties as required.
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; and two (2) years prior duties as a poll manager or an assistant poll manager; or a year for year interchange of related education and experience equal to the minimum qualifications. Must be able to work extended hours and weekends with short notice. TYPING SPEED: 40 WPM PREFERRED. (If requested by the department, Typing Test will be administered at a later date. Application will be reviewed and sent to the department if all other minimum qualifications are met.)
Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work that may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
