Job summary

SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) seeks an on-site 10th/11th Grade ELA Instructor for Fall 2026 in New York, NY. The role requires teaching four periods of ELA and advisory, with up to 10 hours per week and Saturday schedule.

Compensation is $50/hour and the position is Non-Exempt, with on-site work at Baruch College and LIU. Instructors will implement SEO's college-prep curriculum using a student-centered approach, follow provided lesson plans, coordinate with an instructional coach,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in content-related field.
• Teaching certification, K-12 classroom teaching experience, and/or college/university teaching experience.
• Experience working with high school-aged students.
• Comfortable with navigating technological learning systems.
• Expertise in advanced high school English and Humanities subjects.

Responsibilities

• Teach four periods of ELA and/or Advisory.
• Follow lesson plans and meet objectives with rigorous instruction and student engagement.
• Learn and utilize Brightspace, Google Workspace, and Zoom in a blended learning environment.
• Prepare materials and adjust pacing based on student needs.
• Grade using rubrics and provide growth-oriented feedback with timely turnaround.
• Maintain restorative classroom culture and communicate with SEO staff.
