Job summary

SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity) is seeking a Part-Time, Temporary Advisory Curriculum Writer to design and refine advisory curriculum for grades 9–12, with hybrid work a few days in NYC. The role emphasizes research-based, culturally responsive materials and supporting instructor hiring and observations.

Ideal candidates bring 2–4 years with high school students, strong pedagogy, SEL focus, and comfort with project management. Flexibility for in-person Saturday programming is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience working with high school-aged students (teaching, advising, counseling, mentoring, or program coordination).
• Strong background in student-centered and culturally responsive pedagogy, SEL, college and career readiness instruction.
• Experience coaching teachers or providing instructional resources is a plus.
• Proficiency in educational technology (Google Workspace, Brightspace, Miro, Snorkl, Level All, etc.).
• Strong project management skills with ability to meet deadlines across multiple priorities.
• Technically proficient in Zoom, Google Workspace, and Box.

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise high-quality Advisory curriculum for grades 9–12 for various settings.
• Ensure curriculum aligns with organizational objectives.
• Create multimedia content (scripts and instructional videos).
• Stay current with trends in curriculum design and education.
• Complete curriculum-writing projects on schedule with attention to detail.
• Engage in regular check-ins with the Assistant Director and revise materials based on feedback.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
• Collaborate with the Teaching & Learning team to hire instructors and observe lessons.
