Job summary

Kimley-Horn’s St. Paul, Minnesota office is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 1.5+ years of experience to join our Building Structures team.

You will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and development programs while working on diverse building projects and client types. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, perform design calculations, guide construction phase activities, and contribute to client meetings.

Qualifications

• ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• 1.5+ years of new and existing buildings structural engineering design experience, including concrete, steel, masonry, wood.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate.
• Proficiency in Revit; ability to produce drawings and details as needed.
• Experience with structural analysis/design software such as RISA, RAM Structural System, ETABS, MathCAD, TEDDS, ENERCALC, or similar.
• Strong urgency, self-discipline, and ability to meet client deadlines.
• Detail-oriented team player with collaboration and leadership potential.
• Ability to multi-task on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery, design, and detailing of projects under guidance of senior staff and BIM staff.
• Perform structural design calculations, plan production, and prepare submittal packages with the design team.
• Lead and support structural construction phase activities on building projects.
• Support design and participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and develop technical skills.
• Conduct site visits as needed.

Kimley-Horn's St. Paul, Minnesota (MN) office is seeking a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 1.5+ years of experience to join our growing Building Structures team. If you are a collaborative and creative engineer who enjoys working on a variety of building projects and client types this is the position for you.

Responsibilities

• Develop skills as a project engineer by assisting with the delivery, design, and detailing of projects while working with more senior staff and BIM staff who will coach, guide, and support your growth
• Perform structural design calculations, plan production activities, and prepare project document submittal packages while working with a larger design team
• Lead and provide support for structural construction phase efforts on building projects
• Support your design and collaborate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members
• Serve as a technical and professional mentor to entry‑level and developing engineers
• Conduct site visits when needed

Qualifications

• ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
• 1.5+ years of new and existing buildings structural engineering design experience, including the design of concrete, steel, masonry, wood materials
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate
• Knowledge and experience in Revit, with some ability to produce drawings and details, when needed
• Knowledge and experience in structural analysis and design software, such as RISA, RAM Structural System, E‑TABS, MathCAD, TEDDS, ENERCALC and other similar structural related design software
• Strong sense of urgency and self‑discipline to meet client deadlines
• Detail‑oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
• Ability to multi‑task and work on a variety of projects concurrently in a fast‑paced environment
• Passion and demonstrated drive to achieve goals
• Excellent communication, leadership, and technical skills with a continuous mindset on personal and staff development and ability to grow through feedback
• Basic understanding of building materials, overall systems and assemblies

Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000
