Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Chicago, IL office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Surface Water team. This is not a remote position.

The successful candidate will work on surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood studies, and green infrastructure planning, receiving on-the-job training and mentorship while contributing to plan production and client interactions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in surface water modeling or design.
• ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering (B.S. or M.S.).
• EIT/Engineering Intern certification or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Experience building and calibrating Hydraulic/Hydrology models (ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, SWMM).
• Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation a plus).
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to meet client deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Work on surface water management studies.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
• Analyze and design civil surface water features.
• Conduct flood studies and resiliency assessments.
• Contribute to green infrastructure planning and design.
• Receive on-the-job training and mentorship; participate in plan production and client interactions.
