Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Irving, Texas office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 1+ years of experience to join our Surface Water team. The role focuses on surface water management, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, and flood studies in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.

The successful candidate will work on a range of projects, receive formal training, and interact with clients while developing plan production skills and project understanding. This is not a remote position.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience with surface water modeling and/or design
• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree
• Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
• Experience building and calibrating hydraulic/hydrology models (ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, SWMM)
• Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS; AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation a plus
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented with ability to meet client deadlines
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Python programming experience desired but not required

Responsibilities

• Work in a dynamic team on surface water studies and design projects
• Model hydrology and hydraulics and calibrate simulations
• Assist with plan production, project financials, and client interactions
• Contribute to flood studies, resiliency analyses, and green infrastructure planning
