Job summary

Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc in Atlanta seeks a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join the Surface Water team. The role includes participating in surface water studies, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, design tasks, and exposure to client interactions.

This is not a remote position and offers mentorship and formal training. The candidate should have an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree and be eligible for Engineer-In-Training certification within 12 months,

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with surface water modeling and/or design.
  • ABET-accredited degree in Civil Engineering (Bachelors or Masters).
  • Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Experience building and calibrating hydraulic/hydrology models (ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 1D/2D, SWMM).
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS (AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation is a plus).

Overview

Kimley-Horn''s Atlanta, Georgia (GA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Surface Water team.

Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate can expect to work in a dynamic team environment on a range of projects including:
  • Surface water management studies
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
  • Analysis and design
  • Flood studies, resiliency and vulnerability assessments
  • Green infrastructure planning and design
  • As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions
  • This is not a remote position.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience with surface water modeling and/or design
  • Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering
  • "Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Experience building and calibrating Hydraulic/Hydrology models such as ICPR4, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), and SWMM
  • Working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation a plus)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Water quality modeling experience desired but not required (WASP, RIV1, HSPF, EFDC)
