Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb Co is seeking a Manager, Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability – Environmental Compliance in San Diego, CA. You will lead EHSS programs, drive regulatory compliance, and collaborate with R&D, engineering, and facilities to embed EHSS into operations.

The role requires a strong background in EHSS, cross-functional leadership, and a proactive safety culture. Opportunity to influence strategic compliance across site operations and governance structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline required.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible EHSS experience in regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of EHSS Environmental Compliance regulations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Experience implementing EHSS programs, compliance systems, and audits.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and risk management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of EHSS programs, policies, and systems.
• Provide technical leadership across environmental, health, and safety programs.
• Embed EHSS Environmental Compliance requirements into operations and capital projects.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain inspection readiness; liaise with regulators and stakeholders.
• Lead EHSS audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Drive a proactive safety culture and engage leadership at all levels.
• Manage incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis.
• Provide EHSS guidance for site activities and risk assessments.
