Job Summary
We are seeking an EHS Technician who supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company's "Environmental, Health, and Safety programs." This role performs advanced technical EHS tasks, conducts audits and inspections, leads incident investigations, and provides guidance to operations to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe working environment. The EHS Technician serves as the resource to employees, supervisors, and the broader EHS team, helping to drive a strong and proactive safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular facility safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain and update EHS documentation, including permits, logs, SDS records, training files, and regulatory reports.
- Assist with regulatory compliance programs such as Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, PPE, and Machine Guarding.
- Support environmental compliance activities including waste management, recycling programs, air/water sampling, and chemical handling.
- Monitor and track corrective actions to completion.
- Lead or support incident investigations, documenting root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain incident logs, trends, and metrics to support continuous improvement.
- Assist with emergency response activities and drills.
- Conduct or assist with EHS-related training, including new hire orientation, hazard-specific topics, and refresher courses.
- Provide coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors on safe work practices.
- Serve as an EHS resource across all shifts and departments.
- Support the implementation and improvement of EHS programs, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with safety committee activities and improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance safety cultures and reduce workplace risks.
- Conduct inspections and maintenance checks on safety equipment (eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, spill kits, etc.).
- Manage EHS supplies and support readiness of safety equipment.
- Utilize EHS software systems to maintain data, run reports, and track compliance.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
- 3-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic environmental compliance requirements.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
- Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, or similar.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred
- Associate's degree in EHS, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- Experience with environmental permitting, hazardous waste management, or spill prevention (SPCC)
- Experience supporting multi-shift or multi-site operations
- Industrial hygiene sampling or ergonomic assessment experience
- Experience with EHS software platforms
- Knowledge of Lean/5S, continuous improvement, or behavior-based safety programs
