Job summary

GE Aerospace Lafayette seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join a self-directed team focused on strategic and tactical EHS priorities. You will work with the Site EHS Leader, EHS Focals and Council to advance safety programs, risk assessments and governance across the site.

The role includes leading EHS training, incident investigations, permitting support, waste management oversight, and participation in council activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field (or high school diploma/GED with 4+ years EHS experience)
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing or EHS experience

Responsibilities

• Participate in Gemba walks, audits and contractor audits
• Support safety concern investigations and track countermeasures
• Contribute to Management of Change process
• Lead Safety Framework baselines and audits on a monthly/quarterly/annual rhythm
• Support Safety Risk Assessments including heat maps and defenses
• Maintain written programs and policies
• Complete injury assessment investigations
• Lead EHS training (Intro EHS, Fire extinguisher, Ergo, PT, Crane & Hoist)
• Assist with annual environmental permitting and Enhesa updates
• Support Gensuite Calendar tasks to uphold compliance
• Oversee waste management: weekly/monthly/quarterly inspections, RCRA & DOT management
• Support events like Kaizens, SFMEAs, VSMs, Shingi events
• SDS review and weekly EHS council participation
• Participate in Crisis Management Team
