Job summary

Wis-Pak in Hattiesburg, MS is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to lead the site's EHS program. You will ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen safety initiatives, and identify continuous improvement opportunities across manufacturing operations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of EHS experience, with strong OSHA/EPA/DOT knowledge, audits, investigations, and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field and 3+ years EHS experience in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, hazardous materials, and emergency preparedness requirements.
• Experience with compliance audits, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and regulatory reporting.
• Advanced analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, collaborate across teams, and support off-shift operations.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the facility's technical EHS expert, ensuring regulatory compliance and strengthening safety programs.
• Lead critical EHS initiatives and provide guidance to leaders across the facility.
• Drive sustainable solutions to reduce risk and improve operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and leadership to implement continuous improvement.
• Support off-shift operations to maintain regulatory compliance and incident response.
