Job description:

About the Team: This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining various occupational health and safety programs to ensure the highest possible safety standards for employees. The role also involves ensuring that the company complies with applicable federal and state health and safety laws and regulations.

What you can look forward to as an EHS Specialist:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Safety Program, safety files, procedures, policies, and records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain data essential for effective safety programs, including OSHA filings and other reports.
  • Perform or assist with accident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are taken to prevent future incidents, and communicate recommendations promptly.
  • Design, develop, and conduct safety training programs, and assess department safety deficiencies.
  • Conduct work area assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to identify hazardous conditions such as noise, chemicals, ergonomics, indoor air quality, lighting, confined spaces, and ventilation.
  • Evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment.
  • Assist departments with safety training needs by sourcing and scheduling outside training, tracking implementation, and reporting on training status.
  • Support the medical surveillance program, including vaccinations and medical testing as regulated by OSHA and other laws.
  • Assist with EHS audits and inspections.

Your profile as an EHS Specialist:

  • Associate’s degree with 3+ years of safety-related experience; a Bachelor’s degree in safety management or a related field is preferred.
  • Understanding of adult learning outcomes and procedures.
  • Ability to develop instructional materials and professional communications, and to present or teach to large audiences.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, e-Learning platforms, and desktop publishing.
  • Willing to work occasional weekends and off-shift hours.
