Description

One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking a full-time WHS Specialist (WHSS) to serve as a designated representative for their assigned building, coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Global Program as directed by leadership. The WHSS promotes a positive culture, complies with Amazon standards, and maintains a safe work environment. Responsibilities include conducting trainings and coaching associates on work habits.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for reporting to onsite management and corporate systems.
• Support management to ensure compliance with all program expectations and applicable laws.
• Conduct risk assessments related to jobs and new equipment (Job Hazard Analysis).
• Recommend risk mitigation measures, including ergonomics.
• Work flexible shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.

Note: Candidates without an adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification must obtain it within 3 weeks of start date.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year in an EHS-related field, or a relevant bachelor’s degree, or 6 months Amazon safety experience.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to handle confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a safety-related field.
• Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, and customer focus skills.
• Experience leading teams, analyzing safety data, and conducting safety analyses.
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications, experience in emergency response and workers’ compensation case management.
