Bechtel is seeking a Safety Specialist in New Albany, OH to support Environmental, Health and Safety program delivery on project sites. You will help develop plans, conduct field inspections and train personnel to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a science-related field or 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to research and understand regulatory requirements.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer skills for preparing presentations, data management, and reporting.
• Analytical skills for sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping.
• Able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
• Able to support multiple work shifts as needed.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated interest, training, and experience in applied sciences.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 Management System standards.
• Prior work experience in occupational health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assists safety and health professionals in developing and implementing a Safety and Health Management Plan.
• Provides technical guidance and instruction to field personnel and subcontractors on safety and health requirements and tasks such as job hazard analysis and hazard communication.
• Prepares training documents and delivers training presentations.
• Performs monitoring and inspections to confirm compliance with contract, regulatory, and Bechtel requirements.
• Prepares data summaries, written reports, and other documentation for program management.
• Participates in emergency response and incident investigation when warranted.
• Assists in selection and deployment of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assists in developing and updating risk assessments for safety and health hazards.
• Assists other ES&H team members in program execution.
