Job summary

Bechtel Corporation is seeking an Environmental Specialist in New Albany, OH to develop and execute the environmental component of the EHS program. The role combines biology, ecology, chemistry and social sciences to manage environmental aspects of projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in environmental science, ecology, biology, natural resources, or related disciplines
• Four or more years of experience related to environmental sciences or regulatory requirements
• Ability to research and comprehend organizational and regulatory requirements
• Knowledge or experience in environmental impact assessment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Computer skills for presentations, data management and report preparation
• Analytical skills related to sampling, monitoring, and recordkeeping
• Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions
• Ability to support multiple work shifts, as needed, and a wide range of tasks
• Valid Driver's License
• Demonstrated interest, training and experience in applied sciences
• Specialized technical skills and knowledge related to an applicable environmental discipline
• Broad technical knowledge, science skills and technical writing abilities
• Knowledge and experience with ISO 14001 Management System Standards

Responsibilities

• Integrate Environmental requirements into project planning, permitting, design, construction and startup
• Assist with development and implementation of environmental permits, plans and studies
• Perform site assessments and surveys and develop mitigation strategies
• Provide technical guidance on mitigation measures for resources and communities
• Support EHS teams with permits, risk assessment and program execution
• Develop and implement the Project Environmental Management Plan and related procedures
• Identify and track environmental issues and regulatory requirements
• Participate in Emergency Response and EHS incident resolution
• Perform environmental monitoring, sampling and inspections to confirm compliance
• Prepare training documents and assist with EHS training for staff and visitors
• Attend meetings with customers and contractors to advise on environmental requirements
• Perform data management, trend analysis and report preparation
• Assist team members in EHS program execution across Environmental, Safety, and Health
