Job summary

A.O. Smith is seeking an Environmental, Health, Safety & Security Engineer to lead EHSS strategies in the Eastern Tennessee region.

The role focuses on implementing policies, improving performance, and providing leadership across multiple local locations in Johnson City area. The position requires strong regulatory knowledge, budget management, incident investigations, and EHSS program development to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety related field strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of manufacturing EHS management experience with degree.
• 8+ years of manufacturing EHS management experience with no degree.
• Knowledge of regulations including US EPA, TDEC, DOT, TOSHA and related standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage EHSS budget.
• Represent facility on Global EHSS Council.
• Manage EHSS through ISO-based management platform and reporting tools.
• Perform routine tasks such as project safety plans, job hazard analyses, incident investigations, workplace observations and ensuring safety equipment is maintained.
• Develop, implement and monitor safety initiatives.
• Identify, develop and conduct required EHSS trainings.
• Manage workers' compensation claim process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
